Meet the developer with ‘tech’ in his name, LogiNext’s iOS champion

This article is a part of #WeAreLogiNext series of articles where we focus on the journeys of people that power the company.

The technology team is the heart of LogiNext. The architects of a comprehensive enterprise grade Delivery Automation Platform, Pankaj Teckchandani is at the centre of iOS development. The LogiNext delivery automation platform is a series of web and mobile apps for dispatchers, carriers and delivery drivers for seamless management. Here, we get in a conversation with Pankaj to learn more about his journey:

LN: Tell us about yourself and your role at LogiNext.

PT: Since the second year of my engineering, I had been related to mobile app development coz of being a Microsoft student partner. A final year project  got me into the world of backend and Android. Post graduation, I decided to dive into the world of Apple and built my skillsets to become an iOS developer.

From here, I decided to work with some of the top industry giants as a contractor to get hands on experience on several projects and gain a lot of exposure in a short amount of time.

Leading various Mobile App development teams to get the product in the market, being involved in lots of boot camps across various cities helped me reach a stage where I finally found myself with the team at LogiNext!

I work as a Senior iOS Engineer  where my role is not solely developing new features but additionally ensuring the code quality is of the highest standard.  Apart from this, I’m also known as the Chief Meme Officer 😉

LN: How has your time at LogiNext been? Tell us something about your day-to-day life in the office.

PT: The most common answer to the present question you’d hear is “My Journey has been a roller coaster ride”. In my case, to make a long story short, in a short amount of time I feel like I’ve really been in LogiNext for years! And this is because of the atmosphere and the people around you. Day-to-day life in the office involves multiple rounds of technical brainstorming separated by tea breaks, at times tech/gossip discussions over tea.

LN: What’s the best thing you like about your role?

PT: I love challenges and that’s what I like about jobs where the stakes are high! I also love the fact that the product team is open to inputs and the platform evolves as a collaborative effort. I also like to share knowledge with everyone and cherish the fact that everyone grows together in this process.

LN: Any tips for aspiring professionals in your domain? What has helped you in the journey?

PT: Simple fundamentals- Believe in Exposure, not just the experience. Because exposure defines how much experience you have. Pay package or number of years is just a number at the end of the day.

Another point I’d like to make is that programming is an art, not a something fixed and rigid. Search for the fun in Fundamentals!

LN: Tell us something about your personal life. What are your hobbies?

PT: I really enjoy watching cricket, so much so that I can even name a few quality players from Associated Nations (the lesser known cricketing nations). I follow football to some extent too. Apart from sports, I like collecting wines for my home bar.

LN: Who are your role models within the organization and outside?

PT: Overall, Steve Jobs is an absolute inspiration! Just love everything he stood for. If you ask me about someone who is not a public celebrity, it would be my uncle, Mr. Raj.

Within LogiNext: India has provided quality software engineers to the world, but few Made In India software solutions. The man who has been nurturing India’s growing entrepreneurial ecosystem has to be the named here: Dhruvil Sanghvi! It’s a privilege to be working under the guidance of the founding team at LogiNext.

If I start naming others who I look up to at LN, I might end up listing the employee directory here, but a couple of them do deserve a mention: Pushkar Soni would be one, he’s someone who has always trusted me and there’s Kanishk Jain, the most talented Product manager I have come across! He’s calm and composed, some of the qualities I want to learn from him.

LN: If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be?

PT: A famous quote from Leo Tolstoy :

Everyone thinks of changing the world, but nobody thinks about changing himself.

So instead of changing anything in the world, I prefer to have the ability to change myself with the changing times.

LN: Tell us something no one knows about you.

PT: I am not into formalities. I don’t hang around with folks that are into formalities. I don’t like hierarchies and believe that team members are like friends and a company is like a large family working towards a common vision!

LogiNext is hiring across roles, join the team!
