Meet the chief problem solver at LogiNext, Preetam Joshi

Preetam Joshi packs nine years in three. That’s how he describes his stint at LogiNext. A seasoned product delivery manager, with over a decade of experience as a developer, Preetam’s story is one of dedication and hard work. Preetam comes from a family of doctors but he found his calling in engineering. He charted his own career map and proved to be successful in the domain he wanted to work in. Preetam is also known for his sense of humor in the company and here, we get in touch with him to learn more about his journey.
LN: Tell us about yourself and your role at LogiNext.
PJ: I have completed my postgraduate diploma in embedded systems and design, which helped me begin my career as a software developer. I was inclined towards coding and learned different programming languages such as embedded C, C, C++, C#.Net, ASP.NET, and Python. I later switched to L&T and worked as a developer for over a decade. That was a great experience working in a large MNC but after a decade, I was looking to get a client-facing role and this is where LogiNext came in. Working in a fast-paced environment gave me a lot of opportunities to grow and get a holistic point of view.
My role involves understanding client-specific requirements, doing a product fitment analysis, and thereby working out a project plan for delivering the requirements to the clients. As a product delivery manager, it gives me immense pleasure to blend with the core development team and deliver results on time and with high-quality standards. I stand by the saying that it’s the attitude and not the aptitude that decides the altitude in life.
LN: Take us through your journey in LogiNext.
PJ: My journey at LogiNext has seen many twists and turns. In simpler words, you can say that the work pace at earlier organizations was like playing golf, but in LogiNext, it’s like a rugby match! Within three years at LogiNext, the work fulfillment seems to have reached a quantum of nine years elsewhere, and that’s what keeps you running to do more, achieve more, and remain lean!
LogiNext has given me exposure to critical skills and activities such as leadership, project management, release planning, leading scrum teams, and many more. I also interact with LogiNext’s in-house client success team to ensure we measure product quality and take course corrective measures.
LN: What would be the best thing about your role?
PJ: People on the floor say that if you want to get things delivered, go to Preetam. The product delivery role comes with its fair share of risks and roadblocks, which I like to overcome. Firefighting becomes a habit and a necessity, where I step in. My daily activity is to understand the team’s core strengths and capabilities, identify your go-to guys from engineering resources, trust their abilities to do the tasks in the given time frame, and get it beyond the finish line. One can develop their skills with experience and a risk-taking mindset. My daily motivational phrase is ‘Risk toh Spiderman ko bhi lena padta hai!’ (Even Spiderman must take risks to achieve success!)
LN: Who are your role models within the organization and outside?
PJ: My parents are my role models in life. My father built everything for us, as a family, in a city like Mumbai, from scratch! He was the first doctor in the family. He established himself by being an intern at Masina Hospital Mumbai post his medical graduation to become a leading General Practitioner in Bhandup over the past 30+ years. He has built everything on his own. He came to Mumbai from Goa with no one to support him but never made us feel the lack of anything in life. My mother, a consultant homeopath, sacrificed her practice for my upbringing until I graduated. Even though my parents are from the medical field, I was always encouraged to stick to my decisions, and this support has shaped me into who I am today.
I had a lot to learn at a product delivery team level and am still learning from two of my leaders (one past and one current) at LogiNext- Pooja Patel and Pushkar Soni. Both have been instrumental in shaping my career in the last two years in LogiNext. They trusted me to make tough decisions and stand by them whenever it mattered. Also, their calm demeanor has helped me deliver the projects to the best of my abilities. At an organizational level, I always look up to Dhruvil Sanghvi to understand and learn what it takes to build a company from scratch. As a senior member of the team, I’ve had the opportunity to interact and work with him on several instances. Each time he’s been an excellent mentor who inspires others around him to be the best version of themselves.
LN: What is the funniest memory in the office?
PJ: Holi- The festival of colors is one of the most enjoyed festivals across India; however, I am from the minority that doesn’t like it. I played Holi for the first time in my life when I joined LogiNext in 2019, and that was the last time I played it. 🙂
LN: What’s the best advice you’ve ever heard or given?
PJ: Being part of the delivery team, one should always be on their toes. The best advice that I have received and always give to the group’s new members is ‘One Battle at a Time’.
LN: What are your hobbies and interests?
PJ: Reading books is my biggest hobby, and it helps me keep calm and be at peace. I love reading books related to Indian army heroics, Indian history, crime stories, fiction, and war heroes. The last book was “India’s Most Fearless”. I am currently reading – “Why I killed the Mahatma?” The next ones on the list are “Our moon has blood clots” and “Rise and Kill First”.
LN: What artist/band is your guilty pleasure?
PJ: I love listening to Hindi music, and the artist that you can always find in all my playlists across apps for all moods is Arijit Singh.
LN: Would you rather be the funniest or smartest person in the room?
PJ: I am the funniest in the room with my PJs, which can be very poor jokes at times! (Well, my initials- PJ are proof of it!)
LN: If you could go back to any moment, when would it be?
PJ: I would like to revisit my childhood and read comics of Chacha Choudhary. I also loved watching Duck Tales & Tale-Spin.
LN: What would your superpower be and why?
PJ: During childhood, I watched a tv serial called Chutki Bajake – which used to be telecasted on Zee TV at prime time. The genie could get stuff done and accomplish his master’s tasks with one chutki (snap). Considering the huge market dynamics in the current situation, I want this superpower to get developer resources at my wish and will.
LN: What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?
PJ: Well, the weirdest thing I have tasted is Baingan ka bharta! (roasted and mashed eggplant). For me, it’s unpalatable. I also get irked by its smell, which makes me wonder, “how do people eat it?”
LN: Favorite book, favorite movie?
PJ: India’s Most Fearless – 1 is a book that all should have a read. Favorite Movie – Well, there are two; Gabbar is Back and Special 26 (with the dialog – “Asli power dil mein hoti hain!”)
LN: Tell us something no one knows about you.
PJ: I have been an avid fan of CID and its iconic dialogs, Daya, kuch toh gadbad hai! (Daya, something’s a miss). I have watched every episode since its inception 24 years ago!
